Do you like strawberry sweets?

Strawberries are cute just by looking at them, and they are delicious just by eating them, but strawberry sweets are also very popular.

Small or ripe strawberries are sometimes sold cheaply, but have you ever ended up letting them rot?

If you don't want to keep strawberries for a long time, we recommend freezing them.

Frozen strawberries can be eaten as is, or are useful when making sweets.

Introducing how to freeze strawberries and 5 delicious recipes.

Advantages of freezing strawberries

Lots of strawberries and strawberry dessert

Longer storage time

By freezing, you can prolong the life of strawberries, which can go bad quickly without you noticing.

The problem with strawberries is that even if they are stored in the refrigerator, they often go bad where they overlap.

If you can't eat it all within 2-3 days after purchasing it, we recommend freezing it immediately.

Freshness and nutrition are maintained

Strawberries are a fruit with a high water content, so they lose water and vitamin C over time.

Rather than storing food in the refrigerator for several days, freezing it immediately after purchasing will slow down the loss of freshness and nutrients.

Easier to process

Frozen strawberries can be eaten as is, like sorbet, so you can enjoy them as a sweet.

Strawberries that have been crushed and frozen have broken cells, so they are useful when making strawberry sauce or strawberry milk.

When making jam, it's nice that it's easy to make and the flavors absorb easily without having to boil it for a long time.

How to freeze strawberries

This method prevents the strawberries from sticking together and is convenient when you want to take them out one by one and keep their shape.

1) Wash the strawberries with the stems still attached and wipe them dry.

Washing strawberries in a bowl

If the strawberries are shriveled, soak them in water with lemon juice for about 10 minutes to absorb the water before removing the stems and bruises.

The vitamins in strawberries easily leak into water, so it is important to wash them with the stems still on and carefully wipe off the moisture.

2) After removing the stem, remove the damaged part.

3) Place in a ziplock bag and sprinkle with sugar.

In a Ziploc bag, sprinkle strawberries with sugar.

The amount of sugar is about 2 tablespoons per pack of strawberries, but please adjust according to your preference.

4) Flatten the strawberries so that they do not overlap as much as possible, and remove the air from the Ziploc bag.

The strawberries are flattened so they don't overlap, and the air is removed from the ziplock bag.

5) Freeze the food at a low temperature as quickly as possible by using rapid freezer of the refrigerator or by increasing the freezer setting.

How to thaw frozen strawberries

Frozen strawberries can be eaten frozen like a sorbet, or heated to make jam or sauce.

If you freeze strawberries and then thaw them, the cells will break down and water will come out, resulting in a bad texture.

If you heat it up before using it, there is no problem even if it is thawed.

However, the water that comes out contains nutrients such as vitamin C, so please use it together.

Storage period of frozen strawberries

Frozen strawberries can be stored for 1 to 2 months.

However, the speed at which strawberries lose their freshness and nutrients will only slow down but not stop, so we recommend that you eat them as soon as possible.

If you only want to use a small amount, remove the remaining air from the Ziploc bag and return it to the freezer immediately.

Once thawed, strawberries cannot be frozen again.

Take out only the amount you will use and eat the thawed strawberries as soon as possible.
